OBJECTIVES
 
To provide leveled competition in a team atmosphere for boys and girls of beginner to advanced ability levels.
 
To provide a "Bridge the Gap" program, bringing youngsters form entry level tennis to competitive play in USTA Sanctioned Tournaments.
 
To encourage the total support of junior tennis within the State of Texas.
 
To bring families of participants into the game as team coaches and have them assist in program administration.
 
To serve as a follow-up program to the USTA Schools Program, NJTL, and USA 1-2-3.
 
 
LEVELS
 
12 & Under is for beginning children from 6-12 years of age (No advancement to State Playoffs).
 
14 & Under Intermediate is for children from 8-14 years of age.  If players turn 15 on or before August 31, they must play in the 18 and under level.
 
14 & Under Advanced is for children from 8-14 years of age who are qualified and ranked in the Champ or Super Champ level by the USTA Texas Section.  Players must remain age eligible through August 31.
 
18 & Under Intermediate is for children from 14-18 years of age.  Players who turn 19 on or before August 31 are not eligible to participate in the Junior program.
 
18 & Under Advanced is for children from 14-18 years of age who are qualified and ranked in the Champ or Super Champ level by the USTA Texas Section.  Players must remain age eligible through August 31.
 
 
FORMAT
 
The format for league play is as follows:  1 Boys Singles, 1 Girls Singles, 1 Boys Doubles, 1 Girls Doubles, 1 Mixed Doubles.
Each match will be a pro set using no add scoring.
 
 
TEAMS
 
Each team is made up of 6-12 players.  In order to compete in the State Playoffs a team must have at least 3 girls and 3 boys.
Four girls & four boys are recommended at the local level based on the league format.
 
 
LOCATION
 
Matches will be played on the courts of participating schools, clubs, and public facilities in Amarillo and Canyon.
 
 
COACHES
 
Coaches can be a Parent, Tennis Pro, Tennis Coach, or any other volunteer.  The coach is responsible for his/her team and should be present for all matches unless he/she has designated an assistant coach to show up in his/her absence.
