AATA Annual Adult Tennis Picnic . . .


Mark your calendar for the AATA Adult Tennis Picnic, Friday, September 10th, 6:00 PM, at the Amarillo National Tennis Center on Bell Street.

Come out and join the AATA and the Amarillo Tennis Community for Good Food, Fun and Fellowship.  AATA provides Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, ChipsDrinks, paper products and condiments.  Please bring a Side Dish, Dessert or Wine

USTA Combo Doubles League play will begin Friday evening shortly after the picnic.

USTA Membership Special for New Members . . .

2010 Early Season NTRP Ratings available . . .

The 2010 Early Season NTRP Ratings have been published on the USTA Texas Section Website.  Click on the WOMEN or MEN links on the USTA Texas Section Website to view the NTRP Ratings in a PDF Document format.  You can then search for your name in the PDF Document, to see if your NTRP Rating has changed.
 
NOTE:  Early Season NTRP Ratings DO NOT affect level of play for Adult Combo Doubles or Super Seniors Leagues.

2010 US Open Ticket Raffle - We have a Winner . . .

Congratulations to Todd Reed of Round Rock, Texas.  Todd is the winner of the AATA 2010 US Open Ticket Raffle for 2 Tickets to the 2010 US Open with courtside seats in USTA President's Box and Lunch in President's Dining Room on Thursday, Septmeber 2nd.
 
The AATA thanks everyone who participated in this year's US Open Ticket Raffle, and supporting Tennis in Amarillo. 

Cardio Tennis comes to Amarillo . . .

Beginning Monday, April 19th, Ted Olesen, the only USPTA Certified Cardio Tennis instructor in Amarillo, will begin these great workout sessions at Austin Tennis Center.

The Cardio Tennis sessions will be M-W-F from 9:30-10:30 AM or 10:30-11:30 AM.  Each 1 Hour Session is $10 and you may sign up for one or several sessions.

Get a great workout while meeting new friends at all levels of ability!

Polar heart rate monitors are provided to class participants - you may also purchase your own from the pro shop at our own special price.

USTA Tennis on Campus Texas Championships . . .

WTAMU sent two teams this year and they represented their school very well. WTAMU Team Members included Lacey Acker, Martin Barbosa, Michael Hittson, Rebecca Noggler, Isaac Saldivar, Tanner Wise, Caleb Martinez, Hope Martinez, Katy Richardson, Trenton Powell

Ninety schools all total competed at the event. This program is for college students who love tennis but either their school does not have a varsity program or these students do not play varsity tennis. There are Tennis on Campus programs at most colleges in Texas and across the country.

AOYTF 'I Wanna Play' Fundraiser . . .

The Alex O'Brien Youth Tennis Foundation 'I Wanna Play' Fundraiser held Sat, Feb. 27th, 3:00-7:00 PM, at the Tascosa Tennis Center was smash.  80 people participated in the Juniors & Adults Clinic with Alex, with about 300 total in  attendance.  The Exhibition Match with Alex O'Brien and Tommy Ho showcased some great an entertaining Tennis.  AOYTF Photos 

Amarillo Tri-Level Teams Fair Well at Sectionals . . .

The Amarillo 4.0 Mens Tri-Level Team finished as Runner-Ups in USTA Texas Tri-Level Sectional Championships, held at Kingwood, Tx, Feb 21-21.
 
They compiled wins over Dallas 3-0, Fort Worth 2-1, SETX 3-0 and a narrow loss to College Station 1-2.
 
Team members included: Mike Alvarez (Captain), Phil Slaton, Don Hamby, Dewayne Gray, Richard Butler, Sean Kelley, Michael Hittson, James May.
 

The Amarillo Ladies 4.0 Tri-Level Team finished 3rd in their flight, with the margin between them and the 1st place being only 2 Individual Matches. Team members: Brianna Guerra (Captain), Laura Sellers, Tracy Dougherty, Carol Yirak, Malaivanh Kayakone, and Livia Woodburn. They defeated Houston 3-0, SETX 2-1, Fort Worth 2-1, and had a close loss to Austin 0-3 (with all matches going to a 3rd Set TieBreaks).
